FAQs

What is flower preservation?

For resin keepsakes, I use a drying process that helps maintain the flowers natural color and shape vs air drying. It is still an "aging" process and some flowers will still darken or lose color and not all flowers preserve well. Once flowers are completely dried, I design a layout in your requested shape that best showcases your flowers and their original arrangement.

For pressed keepsakes, flowers are deconstructed and pressed flat to dry. It is still an "aging" process and some flowers will still darken or lose color and not all flowers press well.

From here they are either placed in their keepsake frame or cast in resin to enjoy for YEARS to come!

Will my flowers look exactly the same as they did on my wedding day?

While my preservation process helps maintain the original color and shape of the flowers better than air drying, your flowers will NOT look exactly the same as they did when they were fresh. All flowers are dried completely during the process and many flowers change colors by either darkening, fading, and some change colors entirely. It’s important to remember that florals and greenery are organic matter and I have no control of the inner composition of the flower itself. During the drying process, some flowers may lose petals or crack. I will always try to reconstruct any missing petals and of course handle with care to prevent any possible damage to the flower.

Bruising is also another common flaw that shows on your flowers once cast in resin. Bruising is caused by any kind of handling on the farm, by the florist, anyone on your wedding day or during the shipping process. Bruising is unfortunately not visible until the resin touches it and shows up as transparent or discolored spots generally on the edge of the petals. I like to look at these “spots” as part of their journey from the earth itself, to your special day, and then to me to preserve for you, forever.

Will my keepsakes last forever?

With proper care, your keepsakes can be passed on from generation to generation. However, as your love ages, it’s also important to remember that your keepsakes may as well.

All resin yellows or “ambers” over time. The Passion Pour uses a high quality resin with UV inhibitors to help delay this reaction. It’s important to display your keepsake away from direct sunlight or heat source to help preserve its crystal clear clarity over time.

Pressed flowers, especially those with vibrant colors, may fade slightly over time. It’s important to display your frames away from direct sunlight and do not display or store your keepsake frame(s) in an area with high humidity. Flowers displayed in floating frames (glass front & back) will fade significantly faster due to UV rays being able to reach the flowers from both sides.

What can I expect from a handmade resin keepsake?

Even with years of experience and dedicated care, your flower preservation may contain imperfections. While I work tirelessly to minimize these imperfections, some things you may see in your finished resin keepsakes are small air bubbles, petal bruising (see above for floral changes), layer lines (can be seen from the side due to the pouring process) and trapped debris that may have broken or fallen off the flowers during the curing process. Please also note that resin casting is a two part chemical process and even in the best of conditions, this process can go awry causing premature yellow layers, clear “swirls” and mild warping.

How do I send you my flowers?

Fresh flowers must be received within four days of your special event. Flowers must be overnight shipped the first business day after your event. Shipping fees are NOT included in the listed price of your keepsake. Care and packing instructions are provided prior to your event.

If you are local to Monroe, NC, drop off is preferred.

What is the turn around time?

My current turnaround time is between 16-24 weeks depending on the season and type of order.

Do you provide mockups of the design before it’s finished?

I do not provide mockups of the designs for approval or edit. Keepsakes are designed based on the overall look of the original bouquet or arrangement and are at the discretion of the designer. If there are flowers you wanted highlighted or omitted from your final design, please communicate this upon flower arrival.

How do I book?

I require a $50 deposit to reserve your date as I only accept a limited amount of arrangements weekly. You can book through the "Reservation" listing. Once you choose your date, you will fill out a form with requested keepsake items and other details and complete checkout from your “Shopping Cart”. Once I receive your flowers and finalize your order, you will receive a PayPal invoice for 50% of your order total. The remaining balance is due before shipping or pickup of your final pieces.

Can I make changes to my order?

All orders can be changed or updated up until I physically receive your flowers. Due to the space and materials required, I only preserve enough flowers for your requested pieces and changes cannot be made once I start the preservation process

What happens to the rest of my flowers?

Due to their fragility, any remaining flowers not used in your keepsakes will not be returned. If you'd like to keep any of your blooms, I'd suggest removing them from your bouquet prior to shipping or drop off.

Do I have to pay extra for shipping?

Shipping fees are not included in the listing pricing. The client is responsible for shipping fees associated with the sending of the flowers as well as the return of the finished pieces. Return shipping will be calculated once the order is finished and added to your final invoice.
